Printed copies of sketches produced by the "Illustrated London News" concerning the lockout in South Wales in 1875. Prints include the following scenes: a view of Dowlais from the cinder heaps; Dowlais market place receiving pit-horses; miners waiting for relief outside the Workhouse at Merthyr; an emigration agent lecturing in the Temperance Hall at Merthyr; miners and their families stone breaking; miners visiting a coal owner to settle accounts and gain permission to pick coal from the tips; miners and their families in a queue at the Pawn Office in Merthyr Tydfil.
