Copies of agreements between John Summers and Sons Limited and the National Union of Blastfurnacemen, Ore Miners, Coke Workers and Kindred Trades. The agreements cover rates of pay, hours of work and manning at the plant, and accompanying correspondence and copies of authorisations for changes in the rates of pay. There is also a copy of a case to determine which union should represent the workers at the coke oven plant.

There are accompanying correspondence and authorisations for changes in the rate.

There are also several paper cuttings and a copy of a British Steel Corporation report into airborne dust levels at the ore screenhouse.

There are also copies of agreements regarding general working conditions for those working as drivers in the raw materials department.

Copies of reports regarding closures at Shotton, including a report by the British Steel Corporation for tripartite discussions on closures, and notes by the Department of Industry on the steel plant closure review as it affects Shotton. Also a British Steel Corporation document concerning cost information as regards development of the plant.

Copy of a report by Shotton Steel Works and the Trade Union Steel Industry Consultative Committee regarding the future of the plant, containing a technical committee report, a chapter on shipping and transport, and a social survey.

Correspondence regarding the brochure produced by the Trade Union Steel Industry Consultative Committee detailing the plants rundown with accompanying papers on the issue. Correspondence and papers from the Shotton Steelworkers Action Committee concerning the rundown including a paper on geographical considerations for the retention of steelmaking at Shotton, and concerning a medium term plan for retaining work there. There is also a copy of the National Action Committee minutes for a meeting to discuss the future of the plant.

Correspondence to and from members of the Trade Union Steel Industry Consultative Committee at Shotton regarding issues at the plant including the tandem furnace scheme, the prospective closure of the plant, and its future in general. There are also copies of the minutes of a meeting with the British Steel Corporation, and of the TUSICC at Shotton.

Correspondence and papers regarding the closure of Shotton Works, including copies of minutes of the meetings of the Shotton Trade Union Steel Industry Consultative Committee. A copy of the British Steel Corporation presentation to the TUSICC regarding the closure of the heavy end production, answers to questions raised by the TUSICC, and their reply to the presentation. There are also correspondence and accompanying papers regarding the issue.

Contains papers giving wage rates, average earnings and holiday rotas for employees at the plant. Correspondence regarding a wage claim from those working at the ore handling plant including a handwritten history of the claim. There is also a copy of the Trades Union Congress steel committee notes on the evaluation of training courses.

There are also notes of a meeting regarding a dispute between the National Union of Blastfurnacemen, Ore Miners, Coke Workers and Kindred Trades and the Transport and General Workers Union (1970).
