Included is an account regarding an industrial accident; community and industrial relations, and influences in pit society; hostility towards outsiders, especially English speakers; influence of the Welsh language; recreation, poetry and sport; wage bargaining; introduction of coal cutting machines; women and the tin industry and ammunitions factory during the war.
